Focus magazine and website Focus.ua, forming UMH business media group combine editorial offices into a new convergent media project under Focus brand. For the first time in Ukraine, journalists of news magazine merge with editors of online content to create the media product which the readers can receive on any convenient media: paper, computer, tablet or cell phone.
The main task set for the Focus editorial office is to integrate modern information processing and customer communication technologies in magazine production to fill the project website with the exclusive content. Ultimately, both the website and the magazine must consolidate their leadership in the segment.
Since the launch of Focus.ua website, the editorial office of online project and Focus magazine worked independently, but after successful re-launch of Focus.ua and introduction of a number of innovations in the magazine, such as QR-codes, it was decided to continue the integration.
“Readers of Focus are advanced and active people. We want to implement changes which will make the magazine and website even more attractive for them. The experience of countries with higher level of internet penetration shows positive result of merger of online and conventional printed version”, commented Nadezhda Shalomova, Director of business media, UMH.
The united editorial office is run by Tamara Babakova who has been project manager of Focus.ua since March, and managed its transformation. The united editorial office of the magazine will be manned with the different personnel. Upon mutual agreement of the parties, Mikhail Gladkiy, Focus Editor-in-chief is leaving his post after four years of cooperation. Kateryna Kobernik will join the new team as the Director of political department.
Within two months, the professional market will be presented the concept of focus brand development both in the digital and printed version. The concept will rest upon major attributes of Focus, i.e., exclusive rating, quality analytics and interesting author’s columns. “We are convinces that readers of website and printed version will appreciate the result of such merger. Focus is the national weekly magazine. Semi-annual audience of the magazine reaches 433 thousand people (PMI Ukraine, 2011/1). “Focus” gives busy people an opportunity to focus on important issues without overlooking essential details. Focus.ua is a popular news website. According to the data provided by Google Analytics, the average number of absolutely unique visitors constitutes 332 thousand per week.
